There's a part of me that's happy to see Reggie Miller stay in retirement-- in part because I like the few examples of athletes who spend their entire careers with one team, and in part because it allows me to keep thinking of him as one of those SOB's I used to hate playing against.
At the same time, he remained an incredibly effective scorer through the end of his career, and might well have provided been an awesome 6th man off the bench.
I realize this is a little crazy, given where the franchise was ~6 months ago, and where we have been for the last ~20 years, but we're not that many additional pieces from having a roster that can compete for a championship. Reggie might well have been one of those pieces.
Maybe he's thinking he'll come back in February, a la Roger.
I wouldn't count on Reggie coming back to the Cs: it looks like Posey just took his salary slot and place in the rotation
