I guess it didn't help that his draft pick sucked, but LOTS of draft picks suck. That's why they only have two rounds of the draft anymore.

He also really screwed up by wasting a lottery pick on Rafael Araujo, who is just awful. Most draft observers thought that pick was off the wall, and Araujo has been awful.

But he also made some great moves. Trading for Mike James was inspired, and gambling on Charlie Villanueva with the 7th pick appears to have worked out.

I agree that there are better GMs out there than Babcock, but he didn't deserve to be fired in mid-season like this. His record is mixed, not entirely awful.; 2:46 PM
