A little sad, although Pioli and Belichick have done a pretty good job of finding later-round WRs that have worked out (like Givens himself).
Happy for Givens himself. He's getting well more money than the Pats were going to give him.
Sad to see Givens go. He's a neighbor of someone I work with, and they say he's a great guy (in addition to being an excellent receiver.) Nice to see he's getting a good contract, though.
Speaking of replacements, the funniest draft projection I've seen in a while is Don Banks's suggestion that the Pats might take a receiver at their slot in the first round. That doesn't seem like their philosophy at all to me. The earliest Belichick has ever picked a wide receiver is the 2nd round, I believe (Deion Branch), and most later than that.
